High Throughput Synthesis and Screening of Functional Ceramic Materials

Complex oxide functional ceramics are synthesised directly using the combination of a high intensity plasma atom source and MBE sources. High temperature substrate deposition and post annealing allows crystallisation of the stoichiometric materials. In collaboration with the department of Materials in Sheffield University, the electrical response (e.g. piezoelectric, ferroelectric, conductivity, capacitance) of a number of materials classes are being investigated.
