Jovine obtained his B.Sc. & M.Sc. degrees at the University of Dar Es Salaam (Tanzania) in 2007 and 2010 respectively. His M.Sc. project was based on surface science particularly on investigation of inhibitive effect of naturally occurring gum exudates from Acacia senegalon the corrosion of mild steel in sulphuric acid using electrochemical techniques. He also investigated the synergisticeffects of halides in enhancing inhibition effect of Acacia senegal gum exudates. He works as an assistant tutor in Chemistry at MkwawaUniversity College, a Constituent College of the University of Dar Es Salaam. In 2011, Jovine joined Professor Hayden’s group (surface science group) at the University of Southampton as a PhD student, researching in Surface Science and High Throughput Methods for Optimization of Heterogeneous Catalysts.

Scientific Interests: Combinatorial Synthesis and Screening, Heterogeneous Catalysis, Thin Films, Electrochemistry, Surface Science, Model Catalysts, Corrosion and corrosion inhibitors, Nano-fabrication.
